Cost Effective and Maintenance Free
Fuel consumption to heat homes in the Northeast has traditionally been higher than in most other regions of this country. The reason for this is cold winters and older homes.
Not to despair, there are a number of ways to reduce consumption and we've touched on many of these in this and previous Rauw Energy newsletters. In addition to yearly maintenance which is imperative from both an efficiency and safety perspective, the next most cost-effective measure one can take to improve the efficiency of one's existing, and in many cases, very old boiler is to have the Fuel Economizer installed. With the guaranteed 10% savings (the savings are usually in the 12 to 16% range but 10% is guaranteed), the Fuel Economizer will pay for itself in approximately 2 years and then the savings are yours to keep.
As an example, based on consumption of 1000 gallons of No. 2 fuel oil, a price per gallon of $2.60 and the base price of the Fuel Economizer at $695 (we frequently offer $100 savings coupons so the price would actually be $595 including installation and taxes), homeowners can save $1,500 in the first five years after installation of the Fuel Economizer and reduce their CO2 emissions by as much as 11,000 lbs. For more information and to calculate what your specific savings would be, go to our calculator. The Fuel Economizer is like a piggy bank for your boiler.
