Bedford, New York's Resolutions to Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Not only is New York City moving forward in environmental leadership, the Town of Bedford, New York is leaping forward as well by having appointed the Bedford Energy Advisory Panel. This panel was formed to help the town reach its goal of a twenty percent reduction in community-wide greenhouse gas emissions, below the 2004 baseline year, by 2020.
Following two years of research, the BEAP has put forth a draft Climate Action Plan. The plan looks at energy use and pollutants emitted by the municipal, residential, commercial, transportation and waste segments of the community. The Climate Action Plan then breaks apart the sectors of Energy, Transportation, Waste + Recycling, and Land + Water Use and makes recommendations in each area for emissions reduction measures.
The Town of Bedford's Climate Action Plan is a detailed, comprehensive report that can be viewed online at http://www.bedfordny.info/ or a paper copy can be found in the Bedford Hills, Bedford Village and Katonah libraries.
