Save Money, Lower CO2, Slash Pollutants
Financial Savings
As an example, if a building consumes 35,000 gallons of oil at $2.00 per gallon in one year, its annual fuel cost is $70,000. If we assume the savings are the guaranteed minimum of 10%, the first year savings would be $7,000 and would pay for the installation. If we add realistic variables, such as a 15% savings, which is normal, or an increase in oil prices, the payback is much faster. Feel free to input your information into our calculator to understand the positive impacts the installation of the Fuel Economizer could have on your building.
CO2 Savings
By burning less fuel, less CO2 is emitted. For every gallon of number 2 oil saved, 22 pounds of CO2 emissions are avoided. Using the above example, 10% savings equates to 77,000 pounds of CO2 avoided. A 15% savings yields 115,500 pounds avoided. These savings occur year in and year out.
Pollution Savings
Pollutants, specifically fine particulates (soot), carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons are reduced greater than 30% on oil-fired boilers with installation of the Fuel Economizer. The most polluting part of a burn cycle is the initial start up of the burn. The reason significant reductions occur is because cycling is reduced; there are fewer but longer cycles. These results are discussed in detail in the Brookhaven Laboratories report provided on this website. The New York City Community Air Survey released in December 2009 has greatly heightened the awareness of how our buildings are polluting our air, particularly the 9,000 buildings burning number 4 and number 6 oil. The Fuel Economizer is a proven, affordable, and immediate way to mitigate this without changing fuels.
