Actual Installations
The photo to the left shows four typical installations. The Fuel Economizer control is mounted on the grey box which is attached to your boiler. The grey box is called an aquastat and is a very simple mechanical device. The Fuel Economizer control is wired into the aquastat and works with it to create the savings. On the outside of the Fuel Economizer you can see the hot water sensor wires. The sensors are installed and wrapped in insulation.
Two of the boilers on the left have internal coils that produce domestic hot water. The Fuel Economizer has a separate domestic hot water sensor for this type of configuration.
